You’ve heard me talk about this for the last 20 years. Imagine my pleasant surprise to see this story on mainstream TV at normal viewing hours!
It’s not eating cholesterol or even eating fat that is the primary cause of heart disease… it’s eating too many carbohydrates. Ironic really since we’ve been told for several decades that eating low-fat is heart-healthy when it typically means eating high carbohydrate which is the very opposite of heart-healthy.
To make matters worse, the food pyramid taught until recently in our schools promotes this unhealthy way of eating unwittingly increasing the number one cause of death in our country.
In a special two part edition of Catalyst, Dr Maryanne Demasi investigates the science behind the claims that saturated fat causes heart disease by raising cholesterol.
